Ben Schwartz - Founder & President

Sacramento-based creator Ben C. Schwartz opened his shop, Empire’s Comics Vault, in 2003 and has served the comic book community ever since.

From food drives to collecting toys for kids, from Free Comic Book Day festivals to Creative Women Mini-Cons, and from brewery board game nights to sponsoring the Sacramento Roller Derby, Empire’s Comics Vault is committed to building and supporting the comic book community and Sacramento.

Continuum Press was born using the comic book shop as a launchpad. Although editing, marketing, design, and production are all part of his job, writing is his passion. With 6 titles and 22 issues now in two trade paperbacks, and more on the way, Continuum Press continues to grow.

Trixie Dynamite, the sci-fi comedy sett 100 years in future Sacramentropolis, has also been collected into a trade paper back that is available now.

Ben’s newest endeavor is his children’s book line featuring his two pugs Rolly Polly and Captain Dylan. He is married to Continuum Press Editor-In-Chief, Jennifer Schwartz, and has an unearthly affection for his two pugs.

Trixie Dynamite

Sacramentropolis, Free California. 2123.

The last hundred years have been pretty rough. Confirmation that we are not alone after alien artifacts were unearthed. Then, quickly afterwards, the declaration of a United States Monarchy -- for the people’s safety -- of course. Civil war. The plague unleashed on the Free States and the Great Earthquakes.

As if all that wasn’t enough, hovering above us – always -- the Imminent Alien Invasion.

Fortunately, the good people of the world have a hero. Someone who puts their own best interests to the backseat. Someone who makes sure that at the end of the day, the tide turns in favor of good.

Max Dynamite was the first to wear my suit. For one hundred years it has been passed down to his heirs.

12 heroes later -- you have me – Trixie Dynamite.

Empire’s Comics Vault

Empire’s Comics Vault & Hot Sauce is a Sacramento, CA, comic store catering to our readers and lovers flavor. Our store is unique. The open floor space provides room for our two lounges, one with a 65-inch tv and the other has an art gallery featuring Sacramento’s best creators. We also feature a hot sauce wall whose selection cannot be beat!

Comics include not only Marvel and DC but also a vast selection of Indies. New comics come in every Wednesday, and we have the largest selection of Indie comics in the Sacramento area. We carry a huge selection of graphic novels including tons of Indies. Unlike many stores, we also carry European comics.

To save you time, we don’t buy comics. We also do not carry games, key issues, silver, or golden age comics. Every other shop in town does so you have plenty of options. But if you want a store where the love of comic reading is most important, then that’s us!

How could we forget the pugs?! Rolly Polly & Captain Dylan can be found chasing after other dogs in the shop, occupying your lap while you lounge on Aunt Mae’s couch, or sunbathing in the window. Both are very friendly and love kids and dogs … Dylan LIVES for other dogs.
